Guy Hepner is pleased to present an exclusive selection of original works by Russell Young, Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst and Banksy.
Marilyn Monroe has endured as the purest embodiment of elegance and glamour. Marilyn Goddess from Russell Young’s Diamond Dust collection is immediately captivating in the way that Marilyn’s hopeful, naïve gaze contrasts with the impending tragedy; this sensation is further underscored by the bright, yet fractured effect that the Diamond Dust process conveys.
For those who want to indulge but can do without the subsequent guilt and self-loathing, Andy Warhol’s Candy Box Heart is an oddly alluring representation of the Valentine’s Day ethos. The frank commentary on commercialism is vintage Warhol; the piece seems to revel in its status as an otherwise unremarkable object that is curiously refreshed by the forthright presentation.
Damien Hirst is similarly direct, yet for a different reason. All You Need is Love, Love, Love (Diamond Dust) captures the truly essential elements of love—freedom, boundless possibility—and presents them, unadorned, frozen in time before they are diluted by absurdity and human fallibility.
Though his works continually defy categorization, there is an unmistakable sense of compassion and empathy inherent in Banksy’s work. Balloon and Girl (Diptych) is immediately striking for its composition and its thematic ambiguity. Because the piece is physically divided within the frame, the viewer is unsure as to whether the outstretched hand is on the verge of capturing, or has just lost, the object towards which it strives.
