A year after the art market fell to an all-time low, Andy Warhol’s 200 One Dollar Bills (1962) broke records this month at auction. Last auctioned 23 years ago for a then impressive $385,000, and recently estimated at $12 million, Warhol’s 200 One Dollar Bills sold for an unprecedented $44 million at Sotheby’s contemporary evening sale. Many collectors and critics view this as a strong indication that the art market has regained its former strength, and it certainly proves that Andy Warhol’s work is unaffected by market volatility. The auction as a whole was an incredible success, though the true highlight was Warhol’s depiction of his favorite commodity, the dollar. Guy Hepner is pleased to offer pieces from Warhol's exceptional series, Dollar ($) Signs. Please contact the gallery for further information and availability.
