Seliger, Bond & Watson Post Impressive Results

Mark Seliger, Gavin Bond and Albert Watson, three of the world’s top photographers, enjoyed stellar results at the recent round of auction in New York. Their works exhibited strong rises from the initial offer prices at the gallery. Mark Seliger’s Mod Fashion (2006), estimated between $6,000 and $8,000, sold for $11,250. Gavin Bond’s Redemption (2008), estimated between $10,000 and $15,000, sold for $31,250, a new record price for the artist. Albert Watson’s Kate Moss, Marrakech, Morocco (1993), estimated between $10,000 and $15,000, sold for $32,500. Works by these artists have shown a consistent tendency to appreciate over time, and this data further demonstrates Guy Hepner’s ability to anticipate trends and provide opportunities for his preferred clients. The art market has regained much of its former strength and looks set to continue the upward momentum into 2010.

A year after the art market fell to an all-time low, Andy Warhol’s 200 One Dollar Bills (1962) broke records this month at auction. Last auctioned 23 years ago for a then impressive $385,000, and recently estimated at $12 million, Warhol’s 200 One Dollar Bills sold for an unprecedented $44 million at Sotheby’s contemporary evening sale. Many collectors and critics view this as a strong indication that the art market has regained its former strength, and it certainly proves that Andy Warhol’s work is unaffected by market volatility. The auction as a whole was an incredible success, though the true highlight was Warhol’s depiction of his favorite commodity, the dollar. Guy Hepner is pleased to offer pieces from Warhol's exceptional series, Dollar ($) Signs. Please contact the gallery for further information and availability.

Rare Andy Warhol Works Now Available

Guy Hepner is excited to present five rare Andy Warhol works. Included in this series are two of Warhol’s infamous portraits of the Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong. Mao appears both sinister and comical in these famous renditions by Andy Warhol. Also available are Paramount and Blackglama, two of Warhol’s most well-known and esteemed advertisements. Warhol’s Dollar ($) Signs best represent the artist’s satirical take on conspicuous consumption. In the words of Warhol, “I like money on the wall. Say you were going to buy a $200,000 painting. I think you should take that money, tie it up, and hang it on the wall. Then when someone visited you, the first thing they would see is the money on the wall.” Please contact the gallery for further information.
