Daniel Edwards has created a new piece of work available exclusively through Guy Hepner. It is a vinyl-like collectible place of a defeated Mexican Swine. The piece, appropriately titled “Swine ’09: From the World Healthy Organization’s Collector’s Plate Collection,” depicts a swine, or pig, dressed in a sombrero with a thermometer coming out of its mouth, decorated with a day-of-the-dead motif on the brim of his red sombrero. The piece is available for purchase through Guy Hepner online, and is in limited quantity.
Edwards is known for his works of art that take a quirky and humorous side to highly publicized people and events, and bring out a playful light in all of his pieces. His works include a life size statue of Britney Spears giving birth while on her hands and knees as well as a sculpture titled “Suri’s bronzed baby poop,” depicting just what the title reveals. These are only a few of the controversial celebrity and pop culture pieces that this American sculptor has created to stir up the public and force us to look at the ridicule in all kinds of popular topics.
