Chris Bracey's Stages of Love

Guy Hepner will showcase the work of neon and light artist Chris Bracey at his Los Angeles and Miami galleries. Producing neon artworks for over three decades, Chris has met an amazing demand from the worlds of art, fashion and cinema from his workshop in East London.

Guy Hepner will show Chris Bracey’s Stages of Love at his galleries in LA and Miami. Chris’ newest series celebrates hedonism. Pinpointing longings and craving for something that brings satisfaction and enjoyment, the pieces chart the brain in love, illustrating how is each phase is bathed in a chemical colour glow.
Expressed through eight reflector cap light sculptures encased in perspex, Stages of Love serves as the sequel to his Seven Deadly Sins show, a recent body of work which interpreted the faults of mankind. The radiant bulb artworks express feelings of happiness and desire, sensations and emotions that can be magical and dangerous. Desire in all it’s phases - Chris Bracey suggests, much like the technology and gases that combine to create neon - can be a volatile substance.
Chris explains that as the brain is neurologically wired to seek out romance, he wanted to create pieces that represent advertisements of sexual interest. ‘Neon was created over a hundred years ago and it has transformed from scientific invention to advertising age to being used as an artistic tool.’ Where Seven Deadly Sins explored the flaws in mankind, Stages of Love highlights its pleasures. Chris’ artistic reasoning, neon is sexy, an incitement to hedonism; it is part of the visual vernacular of the modern urban world. Intrinsic in glamour, neon is associated with exotic pleasures, the city at night and the frisson of potential erotic encounters.

Guy Hepner Contemporary is proud to present mixed media artist James Georgopoulos. In his latest exhibition titled SECOND AMENDMENT, Georgopoulos presents large scale, mixed media works of notorious guns and cameras from iconic film and television shows.

Georgopoulos continues his interest in popular culture's fascination with the firearm and its attraction to the movie industry. Second Amendment questions the typical philosophical and political arguments on whether people should be allowed the right to possess weapons for both defensive and recreational purposes. By displaying these objects in a beloved manner; centered, surrounded by vivid color and encased in resin, Georgopoulos is sharing in society’s obsession with weapons and cinema both literally and figuratively. In Second Amendment Georgopoulos shows off his painstaking attention to detail and proficient technique of photography, printing, painting and resin work. Georgopoulos continues to do everything by hand without the assistance of an automated machine. His seven by four foot, high-gloss, large scale transformations of famous guns and cameras allows the viewer the chance and the right to bear arms safely and responsibly.

The selected group of works in this show are guns used by: Steve McQueen in The Getaway; Denzel Washington in The Book of Eli; Vin Diesel in xXx; Al Pacino in Scarface; Samuel L. Jackson from Pulp Fiction; and Big Pussy’s Glock from The Sopranos. Film cameras shown, in the same treatment from Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, Mel Gibson’s Apcolypto, Clint Eastwood’s Gran Torino and David Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia.

James Georgopoulos has worked with luminaries Oliver Stone, Zack Snyder, Richard Branson, and Eddie Sotto at Disney Imagineering. He spearheaded design for Al Gore’s network facilities at Current TV, and the former Vice President has championed his work. His artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally. This is Georgopoulos’ first exhibition with Guy Hepner Contemporary and his fourth exhibition in Los Angeles. Guy Hepner Contemporary is one of the world's premier galleries for contemporary art and photography collectors. Founded over a decade ago in London, Guy Hepner is now housed in gallery spaces in West Hollywood and Bal Harbour designed by top architects, adjacent to many luxury boutiques including Fendi Casa, Chanel, Armani and Dolce & Gabbana. Guy Hepner specializes in pop art, neo pop art and high fashion photography. Representing many of the world’s most celebrated photographers and advising many top corporate, museum, celebrity and private collections, Guy Hepner has been involved in the acquisition of many of the most iconic images of the last decade.
